We recently completed a professional scaffolding installation in Hackney for a residential refurbishment project, and it’s a great example of what a well-planned access scaffold can look like on a London terrace.
The brief was straightforward: provide safe, efficient access to all elevations of the property so external repairs and maintenance could be carried out to the highest safety standards. To achieve this, we designed and erected a multi-lift access scaffold complete with returns.
The multi-lift configuration gives operatives working platforms at multiple heights simultaneously, so tradespeople can get on with the job at every level without waiting on each other. The returns wrap around the corners of the building, ensuring full access to every exposed elevation rather than just the primary façade. No blind spots, no gaps, no awkward re-erections mid-project.
The result is a structure that’s both safe and practical: fully boarded working platforms, guardrails and toe boards throughout, and a clean, stable scaffold that met all requirements under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
This is the kind of project that sits squarely in our wheelhouse. Beacon Scaffolding has been providing professional scaffolding across London for over 30 years, and residential refurbishment work is one of our core specialisms. We understand that homeowners and contractors need a scaffold company they can rely on: one that turns up when they say they will, erects a structure that’s safe and compliant, and adapts when the project demands it.
Our team is fully CITB trained, and we hold CHAS Advanced, Constructionline Gold, and Scaffolding Association Audited Member accreditations. Our public and employers’ liability insurance runs to £10 million. These aren’t just badges — they reflect the systems, training, and standards we hold ourselves to on every single project, whether it’s a single-storey extension or a full multi-storey refurbishment like this one.
We cover Hackney and the surrounding East London area as part of our wider service across Greater London and within the M25. If you’re planning external refurbishment works on a residential property, we’d love to help. Get in touch for a free, no-obligation quote.
